Hitting the Streets: Who’s Wearing What

Labubu’s, Birkins, bandanas OH MY! The New York City Streets serve as a runway show that never draws the curtain. From the cobble stones in SoHo to the pristine palaces on Park Avenue, there is no shortage of jaw dropping, show stopping, and sometimes questionable choices to admire, or double take. This year has brought exciting new looks, and fun accessories that have flooded the fashion landscape

Sheer Skirts, hello Ms. Bradshaw

This summer in New York City, the streets are shimmering with a new kind of armor—sheer skirts drifting through crosswalks and catching sunlight between skyscrapers. They move with the breeze, part streetwear, part daydream, adding a flash of romance to the city’s usual rush. How can you not think of Carrie Bradshaw—forever the patron saint of playful transparency—twirling in her tulle tutu or stepping out in something unexpected and unforgettable. The NYC take is unapologetically bold: a reminder that in a city of concrete and glass, sometimes the most powerful statement is the lightest touch.

The “go see” look

The “go see” look—sleek jeans, a perfect white tank, and barely-there makeup—is stepping off the runway and onto the sidewalks. Once reserved for model casting calls, it’s now the uniform for coffee runs, gallery afternoons, and effortless nights out. There’s a quiet confidence in its simplicity, a kind of urban minimalism that says you don’t need embellishment to turn heads—just great lines, clean basics, and the city as your backdrop.

Babydoll/Halter Tops

Halter tops and babydoll silhouettes are spilling onto sidewalks like a love letter to the ‘90s. Light, airy, and a little flirty, they catch the breeze between subway stops and rooftop drinks, adding a soft edge to the city’s sharp pace. Paired with wide-leg trousers, denim, or layered over slip skirts, they bring a touch of romance to the everyday rush—proof that even in a city that never stops moving, there’s always room for a moment that feels carefree.

Capris, yes please

Capris are quietly making their way back into the style rotation. Cropped just above the ankle, they move easily from morning markets to evening strolls, offering a balance between ease and polish. Paired with sandals, sneakers, or Kitten heels, they bring a touch of nostalgia to the sidewalks—proof that sometimes the most timeless trends are the ones that feel effortlessly familiar.

Labubus

Now we must chat about the Labubu that is probably hanging on your Goyard bag right now. These little creatures, “charming” smiles and all, have become the staple on every designer bag hitting the streets. The Labubu is a representation of the free spirited nature of New Yorkers, love them or hate them, I am sure you will meet one on your next ride on the L train.
